Peggy Meldi

Peggy Joyce Meldi, 87, of Edwardsville, IL, died at St. Joseph's Hospital, Highland, IL on Monday, September 14, 2026 at 6:05 am. She was born August 23, 1939, in Baltimore, MD to James Duckworth & Elizabeth Stewart Duckworth.

She married Billy Jean Meldi on December 22, 1959 in Edwardsville, IL. He preceded her in death on August 15, 1993.

She was a school teacher for Community Unit School District 7. Peggy was a score keeper for the high school athletics. Peggy loved teaching swimming lessons. She mostly enjoyed her family and going to nieces and nephews sporting events as well as horseback riding.

She is survived by her children, Dr. Patricia Meldi of Edwardsville, IL, Billy Meldi of Saint Louis, MO, siblings, Roberta Trump of Edwardsville, IL, Carol Bock of Winston Salem, NC, six nieces and nephews, several great nieces and great nephews.

Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, spouse and brother in law, James Trump.

Friends may call on Friday, September 18, 2026 at Kravanya Funeral Home, Gillespie from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm.

Funeral services are Friday, September 18, 2026 at 1:00 pm at Kravanya Funeral Home, Gillespie. Burial will be at Benld Cemetery, Benld, IL. Memorials are suggested to Partnership For Educational Excellence District #7.
