Peggy Jo Wheaton 82, of Wood River passed away Friday, December 7, 2018 at Bethalto Care Center.
She was born April 3, 1936 in Alton. She married Paul A. Wheaton December 30, 1954 at St. Mary's Westwood Church in Fieldon. Peggy was a devoted wife and loving mother and grandmother. She spent many years involved in Girl Scouting.
She is survived by her husband Paul A. Wheaton of Wood River; son, Bradley P. (Linda) Wheaton of Godfrey; two daughters, Kelly K. (Tom) Hebel of East Alton and Paula Jo (Steve) Bollini of Godfrey; five grandchildren, Andrew and Christopher Wheaton, Tim (Haley) Wiemers and Justin and Shane Bollini; two brothers, David (Laura) Blackorby of Athens, TX and Harold (Donna) Blackorby Jr. of Edwardsville.
She was preceded in death by her father, Lloyd Jackson; mother, Lila (Dabbs) Blackorby; step father Harold Blackorby Sr. and an infant brother, Stephen Jackson.
A memorial visitation will be held from 4- 7 p.m., Monday, December 10, 2018 at Paynic Home for Funerals in Rosewood Heights with a prayer service at 5:30p.m. A Memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at St. Mary?s Catholic Church in Alton with Father John Luong as Celebrant.
Memorials can be made to the Activities Fund at the Bethalto Care Center or the 5 A's.
