Peggy Jean Hamby, 72, died at 11:29 a.m. Thursday, November 22, 2018 at Alton Memorial Hospital.
Born August 2, 1946 in Alton, she was the daughter of Charles William Depper Sr. and Lillian G. (Wyman) Depper. She married Calvin Hamby Sr. on August 1, 1965 in Walshville, IL. He survives.
Mrs. Hamby was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Bethalto and worked as a cook for the Bethalto McDonalds.
Along with her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Lori Ann Hamby and Barbara J. Hamby both of Cottage Hills, six sons, Clinton (Betty) Lee of Bethalto, Lonnie (Loretta) Lynn of Hartford, Calvin (Rose) Hamby Jr. of Mason, IL, Christopher (Megan) Hamby of Alton, Brian Hamby of Wood River and Terry Paul (Miranda) Hamby of Wood River, 17 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, and 10 great great grandchildren. Also surviving are three brothers, Ronald Depper, Jack Depper and Larry Depper and four sisters, Lillian June Wyman, Anita Depper, Rosalie Cope and Nancy Christian.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Peggy Ann Hamby, two brothers, Charles Depper Jr. and Jerry Depper, and a sister, Rebecca Walker.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at 12:00 noon Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton.
Burial will be at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey.
Memorials may be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children.
