Paxton Chapman

Paxton was born on December 30, 1985, and raised in Mulberry Grove, Illinois, and most recently made his home in Greenville, Illinois. He attended Mulberry Grove High School, where he proudly played for the Mulberry Grove Aces Basketball team. His love for sports followed him throughout his life—whether he was playing, watching, or debating about them. Though he owned a Chicago Bulls hat in every color, his heart belonged to the Golden State Warriors.

On January 17, 2021, Paxton married Christine Bryant. Their marriage was filled with laughter, partnership, and the kind of joy that reflected Paxton’s vibrant spirit.

Paxton was known by all as a big jokester—the kind of person who could light up a room with his humor and keep friends and family laughing for hours. He had a deep love for cooking and proudly considered himself a foodie, always excited to try new foods and share his creations. Paxton also loved dancing and listening to old-school music across many genres, from Motown classics to artists like Joe, and everything in between.

When he wasn’t spending time with the people he loved, you could find him relaxing by a lake with a fishing pole in hand or at home watching his favorite true crime shows.

He leaves behind two daughters, Jae’Lah Chapman of Effingham, IL, and Zaniah Chapman of Litchfield, IL, who were the pride of his life.

Paxton is survived by his siblings:

Tiara Chapman, April Betts, Reuben Betts, Stephanie Stiff, Carla Stiff, Deedra Brown, LaSonya Stiff, Roman Stiff, Reauna Stiff, Devione Dean, and John Stiff Jr.

He is preceded in death by his siblings John Brumfield and Ava Stiff, his nephew Nekoda Jackson, his mother Kim Chapman McCellan, and his father John Earl Stiff.

Paxton also leaves behind a large and loving family of nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles and cousins all of whom he cherished deeply.

His laughter, his warmth, and his unforgettable spirit will be missed by all who knew him.

Paxton passed away on December 31, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones.

Service for Paxton will be held 12:00 p.m. Saturday, January 10, 2026, at the Bible Way House of Prayer in Royal Lake, Illinois. Family and friends will gather from 11:00 a.m. until service time. All memorials in lieu of flowers and plants made to the family.
