Pauline Hyman, age 85, went to be with The Lord Sunday, December 9, 2018, at her home with her family by her side.
She was born December 21, 1932, in Alton, the daughter of John and Mary (King) Lewis. She married Clifford Hyman Sr. on June 27, 1951 in Alton, and he preceded her in death in 2015.
Pauline was a devoted wife and mother who worked endlessly caring for her eight children along-side her husband on the family farm. She loved attending church services at The Salvation Army where she was a member for many years. She was an active member of the League of Mercy for twenty years where she enjoyed visiting the sick and those in nursing homes. Pauline was an avid Cardinal fan. She loved flowers and singing church hymns.
She is survived by two sons and their wives, Clifford and Kim Hyman Jr. of Brighton, and Michael and Kathleen Hyman of Godfrey; six daughters and their husbands, Janice Hyman of Brighton, Donna and Mike Mellenthin of Bunker Hill, Sharon and Louis Steward of Cottage Hills, Brenda and Lloyd Knight of Bethalto, Mary and Gary Gerdt of Roxana, and Cathy and Ed Campagna of Alton; eighteen grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; a sister, Dorothy Ziggenbein; a brother, Arthur Lewis; and many other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband, Clifford; she is preceded in death by her parents; and nine brothers and sisters.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, December 12, 2018 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton/
Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 13, 2018, at 10:00 am in the funeral home chapel with Major Donna Van Hoesen officiating.
Burial will take place in Upper Alton Cemetery.
