Paul V. Boschert, 87, passed away June 26, 2012 at the Illinois Veterans Home in Quincy, IL.

Paul was born in Alton, IL on July 14, 1924. He was the only living child of Paul M. Boschert and Katherine (Schmitt) Boschert.  An infant sister Mary died at birth. His parents preceded him in death.

Paul married the former Emma Jane Hickerson on May 4, 1946. They shared 66 wonderful years together. She survives along with his beloved children,Ellen Rensch (Daniel), Julie Gilbert, Paul D. Boschert (Marsha). Five grandchildren Jennifer Delashmit (Richard), Benjamin Schrimpf (Melinda), Daniel Rensch (Molly), Elizabeth Gilbert and Samantha Boschert. Three great grandchildren Reece Delaschmit, Harrison Delashmit and Emma Schrimpf.

Paul served in WWII in the 106th Infantry Division and was captured during the Battle of the Bulge. After the war, he returned to the Alton area where he was employed as a lab technician in the oil business for over 43 years.

He was a founding member of St. Matthews Catholic Church where he held several offices and served on various committees. He was a member of the VFW Post 1308, Alton, IL, belonged to the 106th Infantry Division Association, the St. Vincent de Paul Society, and served as a volunteer at the Crisis Center in Alton.

He was an avid walker, ragtime jazz enthusiast and enjoyed reading, and traveling world wide with his wife Emma.

He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. His greatest joy was spending time with his family.

His life will be celebrated with a memorial mass on Thursday July 19, 2012 at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Alton at 10 am.
