Paul V. Phipps, 71, of Bethalto, passed away on Thursday, November 2, 2023, at his daughter's home, under the care of BJC Hospice.
He was born on March 4, 1952, in Alton, IL, the son of Lloyd W. and Ruby V. (Bridges) Phipps.
Paul is a graduate of Civic Memorial High School and Ranken Technical College. He worked most of his life as a skilled ASE certified auto body technician. He worked in Glen Carbon at Kurt's Carstar before his retirement. He was a member of Forest Homes First Southern Baptist Church. Paul enjoyed auto body work and spent most of his free time in the garage. He also enjoyed fishing and being outdoors.
Survivors include his children, Sandra Chvala of Staunton, Nicole Phipps of Wood River, and Natalie Forgy of Bethalto; a sister, Janet (Dennis) Newman of East Alton; and his grandchildren, Petra Nimmons, Madilyn Chvala, and Gabriel Forgy.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Lukacs Phipps.
Per his wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, from 4 pm until time of service at 6 pm, at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto. Pastor Terry McKinzie will officiate.
