Paul L. Townsley, 90, died at 9:50 p.m. Thursday, June 20, 2013. He was born November 29, 1922 in Alton the son of the late John and Madaline (Wallace) Townsley. He was a Sgt. In the U.S. Air Force during WWII and a member of Godfrey Baptist Church. He retired in 1982 as a lab technician in the Brass Mill at Olin Corp. In East Alton. On August 28, 1948 in East Alton he married the former Janet Franke and she survives.

Also surviving are two daughters; Carol Kinser of Alton and Loretta McKean (Jim) of Brighton, one brother; David Townsley (Daryl) of Topsfield, MA, seven grandchildren; Andrew St. Clair of Godfrey, April Dunham of East Alton, Dawn Steward of Bethalto, Holli Roswell of Wood River, Natalie Gonzalez of Godfrey, Elizabeth Townsley of Topsfield, MA, and Kevin Townsley of Topsfield, MA, twelve great grandchildren; Kayla Berkley of Wood River, Annissa Carroll of Granite City, Taylor Dunham of Brighton, Jarred Dunham of Brighton, Ian Roe of Bethalto, Darian Roe of Bethalto, Brittaney Kinser of Wood River, Joshua Roswell of Wood River, Justin Roswell of Wood River, Roland Gonzalez of Godfrey, Gabriel St. Clair of Godfrey and Jacob St. Clair of Godfrey, one great-great granddaughter; Audrey Able, two sisters; Betty Gibson of Alton and Jane Gaither of Alton.

He was preceded in death by one daughter; Linda St. Clair and one sister; Beatrice Cowgill.

Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Sunday, June 23, 2013 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton where funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 24, 2013. Reverend Glen Greenwood will officiate.

Burial will be at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey with full military Honors by VFW Post 1308 where he was a member.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Godfrey Baptist Church.
