Glen Carbon | Save
Patsy Ann Mulcahy, age 93, of Glen Carbon, IL, and formerly of Granite City, IL, and St. Louis, MO, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 27, 2025, at Eden Village in Glen Carbon.
Born on September 28, 1931, in Granite City, IL, Patsy was the beloved daughter of the late Frank and Florence (Carron) Shevcik. She graduated from Granite City High School and was a devoted member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, where her deep faith first took root and continued to flourish throughout her life.
On her birthday, September 28, 1968, Patsy married the love of her life, Richard “Dick” Mulcahy, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Their beautiful union, filled with love and laughter, spanned more than 50 years before Dick’s passing in 2019. Together, they shared a wonderful life in St. Louis for three decades. Patsy worked with pride and purpose in the finance department of the civil service until her well-earned retirement.
Patsy's life was a reflection of unwavering faith, humility, and quiet grace. She prayed the rosary and read her Bible daily, drawing strength from her spiritual devotion. A lover of nature, she found joy in tending to her garden and flowers, and she was a loyal fan of all things St. Louis sports. Above all, Patsy treasured time with her family and cherished every moment shared with friends and loved ones.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her dear husband, Dick; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Richard and Elizabeth “Betty” Shevcik, and Ralph and Sharon Shevcik; and her beloved nephew, Kenneth Shevcik.
Patsy is survived by her adoring nieces and nephews: Mary (Rob) Bonham, Janis (Keith) Jensen, Caren (Joseph) Saucier, Carol (John) Tolan, and Timothy (Luan) Shevcik. She also leaves behind many great-nieces and great-nephews, extended family, and countless friends who will remember her warmth, kindness, and gentle spirit.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at Irwin Chapel in Granite City, IL. A funeral mass in celebration of Patsy’s life will follow at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church.
