Patricia Walden

Patricia L. “Pat” Waldo, 86, of Granite City, Illinois passed away at 3:45 a.m. on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at her home. She was born February 5, 1931 in Cairo, Missouri, a daughter of the late Howard and Marie (Gasche) McKinney. She married Gayland R. Waldo on July 10, 1954 in Hillsboro, Missouri and he survives. She was a loving homemaker and had also worked with Follman Properties with several years as a bookkeeper. Pat was a devoted and faithful member of the Mitchell First Baptist Church since 1962 and had served as a Sunday school teacher, organist and the Church clerk for many years. She was a volunteer with Mitchell School giving many hours for the children assisting them with reading and serving as a room mother. She enjoyed her days of sewing and camping and cherished her grandchildren. She will be remembered for the love and special times shared with her entire family and many friends. In addition to her beloved husband of nearly 63 years, she is survived by three children and spouses, Gail and Dan Minkus of Glen Ellyn, Mike and Diane Waldo of Moro and Kathy Pease of Wheaton; seven grandchildren, Sam Waldo, Adam Waldo, Jeff Minkus, Kevin Minkus, Derek Minkus, Matt Johnson and Kelsey Pease; two great grandchildren, Ellie and Nico; two sisters, Mary McKinney and Jane McKinney, both of Hillsboro, Missouri; three sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law, Sandy McKinney of Hillsboro, Missouri, Virginia and Art Anderson of Flushing, Michigan and Butch Waldo of Clarksville, Arkansas; many nieces; nephews; other extended family and many friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Maurice and Charles McKinney. In celebration of her life, visitation will be at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City on Monday, May 15, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. where funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 16, 2017 with Reverend Richard Harmon officiating.
