Patricia J. O’Neill, 69, died at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at Eunice C. Smith Home in Alton. She was born July 18, 1948 in Alton the daughter of the late Dr. Paul J. and Elizabeth (Smith) O’Neill. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton and was retired after 20 years as a elementary school teacher at St. Mary’s Catholic School. Surviving are one daughter, Kathleen O. McCahill (Douglas Compton) of Pooler, GA, one son, Myles “Mick” McCahill (Danielle) of Alton, three grandchildren, Brendon Stewart of Alton, Patrick Stewart (Abigale) of Pooler, GA, Maizy McCahill of Alton, one great grandson, Matthew John Stewart, two brothers, Barney O’Neill of Winter Haven, FL, and the Honorable P.J. O’Neill of Dunnellon, FL and two sisters, Gail Scyoc of Alton and Meg Narconis of Edwardsville, IL. She was preceded in death by one brother, John H. O’Neill. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Monday, June 25, 2018 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. A Memorial Mass will be on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery in Alton. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Oasis Women’s Center in Alton.
