Orvie Endes “Mac” McClain, 99, died at 4:30 a.m., Wednesday, March 13, 2024 at Jerseyville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Jerseyville.

He was born on February 2, 1925 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri and was the son of the late Charlie and Gertie (Morris) McClain.

Mac served our country honorably with the United States Navy on the U.S.S. Azimech during World War II.

He married the former Beulah Lee Daniel on January 21, 1945 in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas. They began their married life in Missouri, where Mac worked as a farmer. In 1954 they relocated to Illinois, residing in Alton for nine years, prior to settling in Jersey County in 1963, where they raised their family. Mac worked as a cabinet maker for a period of time, prior to accepting employment with the Olin Corporation, were he was employed until his retirement.

Throughout their 71 years of marriage, Mac and Beulah were blessed with many wonderful memories with one another and their family. While the blessings they shared were a plenty, it was in the heartaches of their lives that their love for another truly shined, with their unwavering faith in the Lord, seeing them through it all.

He was longtime and faithful member of the Dow Southern Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon and in various other capacities throughout the years. Following his retirement, he enjoyed woodworking, reading, watching John Wayne films and listening to baseball games on the radio.

Surviving are a son and daughter in-law, Robert and Debbie McClain of Ennis, Montana; two daughters and a son in-law, Patricia and Jim Walkington of Meredosia and Vickie Clark of Tower Hill; 9 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; 13 great-great grandchildren with another on the way; a daughter in-law, Helene “Sissy” McClain of Houston, Missouri; as well as a sister, Shelby Joyce Miller of Missouri.

In addition to his parents and his wife, Beulah, he was preceded in death by two sons and  a daughter in-law, Paul and Sally McClain and Donald McClain; a daughter, Lisa Dawn McClain; two granddaughters; two brothers, Milburn and Jerry McClain; three sisters, Palma Evans, Emma Dean Barrett and Anna Belle Baker; as well as a son in-law, James Clark.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, March 20, 2024 at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville, where funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m., Thursday. Rev. David Brown will officiate.

Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville, with the Jerseyville American Legion Post #492 Color Guard conducting full military honors.

For those desiring, memorials may be given to Dow Southern Baptist Church or to the Wounded Warrior Project, in care of the funeral home.
