Opal Ellen Hicks, 90, passed away at 3:38 pm, Thursday, August 18, 2016 at Integrity Healthcare in Godfrey.
She was born on February 22, 1926 in Lutesville, MO to the late Herbert and Ollie (Rush) Eaker.
Opal married Harley L. Hicks in Piggett, AR, he preceded her in death on October 16, 2013.
She was employed at the Olin Corporation. She was an avid bowler, but her greatest joy was spending time with her family.
She is survived by two children; one daughter and her husband, Phyllis Hicks and Lynn Simburger of Elsah; one son and his wife, Harley E. and Betty Hicks; six grandchildren and their spouses, Rolcie Hicks and Justin Socey, Rocky Hicks, John Lee, Kimberly and David Dees, Jennifer and Brandon McGuire and Autumn St. Clair, and four great grandchildren, two sisters, Elwanda and her spouse Jim Corbin of MO, and Bessie Meyers of Wood River, IL, and a daughter-in-law, Cindi Lee, and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and her spouse, she was also preceded in death by a son, Roland Hicks and several siblings.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm Sunday, August 21, 2016 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey where funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon Monday, August 22, 2016 with Rev. Jim Corbin officiating.
Burial will follow at the Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey.
