Oleta Spears

Oleta L. Spears, 75, passed away on Tuesday, October 24, 2017, at 1:36 p.m., at Jerseyville Manor with her family by her side.She was born on January 13, 1942, in Alton, IL, the daughter of Fred and Francis (Jewell) Abell.On December 7, 1973, Oleta married Joseph Spears. He preceded her in death in 2002.Oleta participated in the Foster Grandparent program with the Alton school district. She worked at the Alton Bell for a time and was even the Hardees biscuit maker. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family and friends.Survivors include three children and their spouses, Greg and JoeAnn Feyerabend, Richard and Cathy Feyerabend, Mike and Lola Feyerabend; eleven grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; her special friend, Bob Delehanty; and several nieces and nephews.In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Patricia Higgins; and one brother, James “Dick” Jewell.Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, October 27, 2017, at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton.Funeral service will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, October 28, 2017, at the funeral home.Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.Memorials may be given to The American Cancer Society or Parkinson’s Research.Online condolences can be given at www.eliaskallalandschaaf.com
