Norma Petty

Norma Jean Petty, 85, of Granite City, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 29, 2026, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, Illinois.

Born on February 6, 1941, in Iberia, Missouri, Norma was the beloved daughter of the late Arthur and Ethel (Dodd) Setser. She was a woman of unwavering faith, quiet strength, and genuine kindness whose gentle spirit touched the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know her.

On April 10, 1965, Norma married Eugene Petty in Granite City, Illinois. Together they built a life centered on love, faith, and family, sharing nearly 56 wonderful years of marriage before Eugene's passing on April 19, 2021. Their enduring love remains a beautiful testament to a lifetime of devotion.

A faithful member of Grace Baptist Church in Granite City, Norma lived her faith through compassion, humility, and service to others. She dedicated many years of her professional life as a secretary with the Carpenters District Council in St. Louis, Missouri, where she earned the respect and friendship of her coworkers through her strong work ethic and dependable nature.

Norma found joy in life's simple pleasures. She loved getting lost in a good book, spending time working word search puzzles, and relaxing while watching her favorite television programs. Above all else, however, her greatest happiness came from being with her family. She treasured every moment shared with those she loved, and the memories she created will remain forever in their hearts.

In addition to her parents and her beloved husband, Norma was preceded in death by her sister, Judy Setser.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her loving son, Robert Petty of Granite City, Illinois; her dear brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Marilyn Setser of Maryville, Illinois; her cherished granddaughter, Rachel Petty of Granite City, Illinois; as well as extended family members and many dear friends whose lives were enriched by her kindness, warmth, and unwavering love.

A graveside service celebrating Norma's life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, Missouri. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral chapel on Tuesday at 11:45 a.m. and the funeral procession will leave at 12:00 p.m.

Memorial donations may be made in Norma's memory to the veteran's organization of the donor's choice.

Norma's gentle heart, steadfast faith, and unconditional love for her family will be remembered always. Though she will be deeply missed, the legacy of love she leaves behind will continue to comfort and inspire all who knew her.
