Norma Sethaler

Norma L. Sethaler, 85, of Bethalto passed away Saturday, September 16, 2017 at University Nursing and Rehab in Edwardsville.  She was born May 11, 1932 in Eldred, IL.

She married Charles I. Sethaler at St. John’s Catholic Church in Carrollton on October 28, 1950; he preceded her in death November 12, 2007.

Norma was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church in Wood River and the Daughter’s of Isabella.  She loved spending time with her grandchildren and enjoyed being active in the East Alton, Wood River and Bethalto senior citizens, playing bingo and visiting with neighbors.  When she was a little younger, she enjoyed bowling in both the Wood River and Bethalto bowling leagues. 

She is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Janice and Bruce Brown of Midway, Debora and Mark McCleland and Renee and Ron Mullins all of Wood River; two sons and daughters-in-law, Charles and Linda Sethaler of Godfrey and Kevin and Cheryl Sethaler of Oxford , NC; twelve grandchildren and their spouses, Katie Sethaler, Jamie and Wade Austin, Lynelle and Josh Jolliff, Lance and Megan Brown, Sarah and Chad Clayton, Laura and Brian McAlister, Tara and Josh Begley, Andrea McCleland, Carly McCleland, Brandon and Mae Mullins, Brittany Mullins and Damon and Aimee McCleland; eleven great grandchildren, Nash McCleland, Addison McCleland, Margaret Austin, Kelsey Brantley, Abby and Ellie Joliff, Paige McAlister, Tatum Brown, Asher Copeland, Kayla and Chase Clayton and two on the way; two sibling and their spouses, Bob and Debbie Norton of Godfrey and Dot and Jr Cox of Whitehall; brother-in-law Henry Sethaler of Caseyville and very close friend who was like a sister, Monie Bauer of Portland, OR.

She was preceded in death by her husband; mother Margaret (Schroeder) Norton and step father, Stuart Norton and two siblings, Loretta “Dolly” Huff and Martha Helen Wright.

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at Paynic Home for Funerals in Rosewood Heights.  A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Angels Catholic Church in Wood River.  Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.  Memorials can be made to Holy Angels Catholic Church or Heartland Hospice.  Online guestbook available at www.paynicfh.com.
