Norma J. Gilbert, 60, passed away at 10:30 p.m. Monday, December 10, 2018 at her home.
Born Aug. 17, 1958 in Alton, she was a daughter of Lester and Ruth Ann (Thompson) Moore.
She married John M. Gilbert Nov. 5, 1988, and they enjoyed 30 years of marriage.
Norma worked in the cleaning department of Lewis & Clark School in the Wood River School District. She was a member of the East Alton Assembly of God. She loved to work, always keeping busy. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially weekends with her grandkids. A music lover, she also made many different kinds of crafts.
She is survived by her husband, John of Wood River; children Lisa (Colin) Overmeyer of Benld, Lori Hellemeyer of East Alton, Raquel Siemer of Wood River, and John L. Gilbert of South Roxana; 3 grandchildren, Randy Siemer, Dylan Overmeyer and Dalton Overmeyer; three sisters, Louise (Jerry) Geiger of Conroe, TX, Margie Davis of Wood River, and Kristine (Steve) Gurley of Diamond Head, MS; a brother, Lynn Hendricks of Indiana; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Judy Ann Harley and Connie Davis.
Memorial visitation will be Friday, Dec. 14 at Paynic Home for Funerals from 9 a.m. until memorial services begin at 10 a.m. Dennis Day will officiate.
