Norma Dunphy, 91, passed away at 1:57 am Sunday December 25, 2011 at Blu-Fountain Manor in Godfrey.
She was born on February 26, 1920 in Alton, the daughter of John “Bud” & Ruth (Alexander) Dunphy.
She graduated from Alton High School and worked as a bookkeeper for Wedge Bank in Alton. She was and avid St. Louis Cardinal’s baseball fan, enjoyed bowling, and playing pinochle with her card club.
She is survived by two brothers and a sister-in-law, Tom Dunphy and Frank “Spider” & Shirley Dunphy of Alton; two sisters and brother-in-law, Mary Lou & Mac McCollum of Alton, and Becky Glowacki of Knoxville, IL; several nieces and nephews, Kevin & Beth Dunphy and their two sons, Chris & Janice Dunphy and their son and daughter, Bridget & Bill Riley and their two daughters, Maureen Dunphy, Erin Dunphy, Gregg & Karen McCollum and their two daughters, Brian McCollum, Barry McCollum, Kathleen & Roger Ohl and their son and daughter, Judy & John McElwain and their two sons, and Michael & Debbie Glowacki and their three sons and two daughters.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a brother, Jack Dunphy and a dear friend, Frank Runtz.
In celebration of her life, visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, December 29, 2011 at Staten-Fine Funeral Home in Alton.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 am Friday December 30, 2011 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton.
Burial will follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Godfrey.
