Nelda Depper

Nelda JoAnn Depper, 82, passed away on Wednesday, July 5, 2017, at her home in Godfrey.She was born April 26, 1935, in Gillespie, Illinois, the daughter of Ivel L. and Eunice (Winstead) Hooper.JoAnn was the wife of Robert L. Depper, Sr. He preceded her in death in 2006.Prior to retirement, JoAnn had worked as a nurse’s aide at OSF St. Anthony Health Center for 20 years.Survivors include Rev. Mary Depper, wife of the late Robert L. Depper, Jr.; children and their spouses,  Paul and Marsha Depper of Godfrey, Debra and Glenn Cooper of Dorsey, Penny and Matt Raymond of Bunker Hill, Patricia Depper of Fairview Heights; grandchildren, Brent (Kacey), Ashley, Trena (Rick), William (Robyn), Kimberly, Matt (Amy), Dave (Monica), Clarissa, Christopher (Allison) Carl, Paul (Catherine), Robert III (Aim’ee), Dr. Mary Candice, Annie, James (Grace); 25 great grandchildren; five sisters, Wanda McCarty, Peggy Vidakovich, Patricia Morgan, Phyllis McCarty,  Linda Hooper.In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Robert L. Depper, Jr.; one grandson, Todd Raymond; one great granddaughter, Mika Link; and three siblings, Rosemarie Willard, Buster Hooper, and Levi Hooper.A private graveside service will be held at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto is in charge of arrangements.In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to be made to 5A’s.Online condolences and guest book may be found at www.eliaskallalandschaaf.com
