Nancy Harrison

Nancy N. Harrison, 79, died unexpectedly at 3:27 a.m. Tuesday, December 26, 2017 at Alton Memorial Hospital. The family lost a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was born April 25, 1938 to Charles Edward and Lillie Alva (Lane) Blaine. Nancy graduated from East Alton Wood River High School in 1957. She was employed by Illinois Bell later becoming A T & T. She retired in 1989 as manager in the business office. She was a member of the 12th Street Presbyterian Church. In earlier years she enjoyed bowling, playing golf, playing cards and reading. Family and friends were the highlight of her life. She married Sammie Dillard on December 13, 1958 in East Alton. This union produced two daughters, Julie (Jim) Yost and Joni (Dan) Murphy. She married Alan Y. Harrison on April 19, 1975 in East Alton. Alan had seven children: Bart (Debbie) Harrison, Brett (Katherine) Harrison, Amy (Gary) Webster, Ben (Juliana) Harrison, Angie Sproull, Ned (Michelle) Harrison and Neil Harrison. Alan and all children survive along with her sisters, Mary Wakeford and Katherine Battuello. Grandchildren surviving are: Ashley (Eric) Johnson, Todd Prange, Brian Yost, Natalie Yost, Craig Harrison, Kevin Harrison, Hollie (James) Mellenthin, Luke (Miranda) Busse, Anthony Harrison, Emilie Harrison, Andrew Arnold, Jacob (Stephanie) Harrison, and Mark (Alli) Harrison. Surviving great grandchildren are: Aubrie Johnson, Reagan Johnson, Jason Johnson, Eli Prange, Tinsley Busse, Kolt Mellenthin and Sydni Mellenthin and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Marvin Blaine, sisters, Mildred Preloger and Marjorie Heiens, brothers-in-law, Earl Preloger, Dick Heiens, and Don Battuello, a grandchild, Nathan Harrison and a great grandchild, Lillie Mellenthin. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday, December 28, 2017 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton where funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 29, 2017. Reverend David Olson will officiate. Burial will be at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey. Memorials may be made to an organization of your choice.
