Myrtle L. Gentry, 84, went to meet her Lord and Savior at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, January 18, 2015 at St. Clare’s in Alton. She was born October 9, 1930 in Tilden, IL the daughter of the late Frank and Ella (Springman) Hardy. She was a member of Open Door Fellowship Church and enjoyed being at her church, shopping, playing bingo, eagle watching and spending time with her grandchildren. On August 9, 1948 in Pickett, AR she married Edward F. “Moon” Gentry and he preceded her in death in 2002. Surviving are two daughters; Terry (Roger) Gardner of Delhi and Vicki Gentry of Brighton, two grandchildren; Monty and Maury Gardner, five great grandchildren; Lucas, Logan and Lakyn Gardner, Amanda and Paige Phillips and one sister; Linda Buck of Jerseyville. Besides her parents and husband she was preceded in death by three brothers; Junior Franklin Hardy, William Hardy and Gifford Eugene Hardy and four sisters; Vivian “Marie” Forsythe, Roberta Stone, Edna Irene Gardner and Shirley Ann Myers. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 22, 2015 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton with Reverend Dennis Simon to officiate. Burial will be at Fidelity Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family for an educational fund for her great- grandchildren.
