Morris “Butch” Rolland McGee, age 77, of Granite City, Illinois, passed away on Monday, November 17, 2025, in Estes Park, Colorado. Born on November 24, 1947, in Granite City, Butch was the cherished son of the late Maurice and Betty (Reno) McGee.
A proud United States Army veteran, Butch served his country with honor and carried that same steadfast dedication into every chapter of his life. On October 31, 1981, he married the love of his life, Denise Annette Kirksey, in Granite City. Their marriage was a beautiful partnership built on devotion, laughter, and deep affection until Denise’s passing on December 27, 2023.
Butch retired from Chrysler Corporation after many years of loyal and knowledgeable service. Known for his remarkable talent as a mechanic, he could fix anything he set his mind to—often turning wrenches with a smile and an unmatched patience. He found joy in restoring antique cars, spending time at drag races with Sutton, and working part-time at Gateway Raceway in Madison, Illinois, where he felt right at home among engines, community, and the thrill of the track.
Above all, Butch treasured his family. His greatest joy was time spent with those he loved, and his granddaughter, Harper, was undoubtedly the light of his life. Whether sharing stories, offering guidance, or simply being present, Butch gave his whole heart to his family, and his gentle strength will be deeply missed.
Butch is survived by his loving children, Sarah (Jeff) Wisener of San Diego, California, and Sutton (Lauren) McGee of Marine, Illinois; his beloved granddaughter, Harper McGee; and his dear siblings, Joe (Pam) McGee of East Alton, Illinois, Donna Sutton of Granite City, Illinois, Buddy (Rachel) McGee of Wood River, Illinois, Sharon Lievens of Granite City, Illinois, and David (Lulu) McGee of Florida. He also leaves behind his faithful chiweenie, Petey, as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and cherished friends.
