Minerva Fessler

Minerva E. Fessler, 88, died at 4:30 a.m., Monday, September 19, 2016 at the Jerseyville Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.She was born in Belleview, in rural Calhoun County, IL. on Sept. 1, 1928, the daughter of Percy & Jesse (Smith) Goewey.Minerva attended Grafton High School, and in her younger years, had worked at Western Cartridge in East Alton.She was an avid reader and enjoyed playing a game of Yahtzee as well as putting puzzles together.  She enjoyed socializing and participating in the many activities offered while a resident at Jerseyville Estates.  Her great grandchildren provided her with much love and companionship, and she cherished each moment she was able to spend with them.Surviving are a son and daughter in law, Mike & BevFessler of Dow; seven grandchildren and their spouses, Amy & Todd Morgan of Belleville, Becky Drainer, and her husband, Nathan Rulo of Godfrey, Lisa and Brian Vahle of Jerseyville, Chris and MatynaFessler, Cindy Fessler and her companion, Dr. Tim Lyons, and Kyle and Elisa Fessler all of Jerseyvile, Jonathon Fessler of St. Charles, Mo.; 13 Great Grandchildren; and a brother, Stephen Goewey of Chillicothe.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter and son in law, Linda and Gary Drainer; three sisters, Jesse Telkamp, Charlotte Rohour, Mary Archer; and four brothers, Percy Goewey, Roy Goewey, Alfred Goewey and Paul Goewey.Visitation will be from 9 a.m to 11 a.m. Thursday at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville.Graveside services will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at the Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey.Memorials may be given to the Jerseyville Public Library.
