Mima J. Unterbrink nee Chappell, 87, passed away at 12:45am on Friday, January 5, 2018, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, Illinois.
She was born on March 2, 1930 in Alton, Illinois, the daughter of Joseph Chappell and Margaret (Lowe) Chappell. Mima married the late Marvin F. Unterbrink in Alton in November of 1963.
Mima was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ in Midway, Bell choir and Women’s Guild. She worked at Standard Oil and Olin Corp. Mima volunteered with meals on Wheels and was a loving caregiver.
She is survived by 2 children, Karl (Kathleen) Unterbrink of St. Charles and Laura (Jay) Accola of Edwardsville; 4 grandchildren, Eli Accola, Josiah Accola, Isaac Accola all of Edwardsville and Brad Bira of St. Charles; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant son, Christian Unterbrink; and 5 brothers: Donald, Robert, Dale, David, and Joe Chappell.
Visitation will be from 11:00 am until time of services at 12:00 pm, on Monday, January, 8, 2018 at St. John’s United Church of Christ with Pastor Lori Schafer officiating.
Memorials may be made to St. John’s U.C.C. Education Fund.
