Mildred Collins

Mildred Yvonne “Millie” Collins, 94, of Granite City, Illinois passed away at 11:20 a.m. on Friday, September 26, 2025, at Cedarhurst Memory Care in Granite City.

She was born May 30, 1931, in Murphysboro, a daughter of the late Clarence and Lura (Porter) Hart.

She married the love of her life, Warren D. Collins on December 26, 1955, in Murphysboro and he passed away on November 22, 2015.

She retired from the Granite City School District after over 30 years of dedicated service as a teacher. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Edwardsville and a former longtime member of Niedringhaus United Methodist Church and Central Christian Church in Granite City. She enjoyed her days of sewing, traveling and cooking and truly supported helping her husband with his hobbies throughout the years.

She is survived by two sons, Curt (Charlene) Collins of Florissant, Missouri and Patrick (Chris) Collins of Collinsville; seven grandchildren, Eric Collins, Evan Collins, Emily Collins, Danielle (Joshua) Castelli, Jacklyn (Taylor) Whipple, Phillip (Madison) Collins and Candace (Darron) May; six great grandchildren, Evelyn Castelli, J.J. Whipple, Rowan Collins, Emma Morgan, Ellis May and Walker May; nieces and nephews; other extended family and friends.

In addition to her beloved husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Allen H. Collins; three brothers, Willard Hart, Claude Hart and Clinton Hart and one sister, Dorothy Hart.

In celebration of her life, visitation will be at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City on Thursday, October 2, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. where funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 3, 2025, with Reverend Jimmy Spears officiating.

Graveside services will be held at the Pleasant Grove Memorial Cemetery in Murphysboro at 2:00 p.m.
