Michael Lynn Volz, 78, of Cottage Hills, IL, passed away Sunday, October 4, 2026, at St. Anthony Hospital, Alton. Born on September 22, 1948, in Alton, Il to Arthur Donald and Fern Louise (Gaither) Volz.
Michael was a mail carrier for the Godfrey Post Office. He was a US Army Vietnam Veteran. Mike enjoyed playing slot machines, playing poker with his friends and scratching off his daily scratch off tickets. In his younger years he enjoyed racing his race cars at Godfrey Speedway, and spent a lot of his time working on his race cars with his dad.
He married Alice Marie Baker on September 1, 1990, in Wood River, IL. Surviving are his wife, Alice; stepson and daughters, William "Billy" Rogosky, Nicole (Tim) Colley, Alicia (Jason) Pieper and Katrina Rogosky; grandchildren, Cody Volz, Brittany Mull, Kevin Volz, Justin Reed, Nick Volz, Mikey Volz, Gary Volz, Aaron Volz and Aliya Rogosky; great grandchildren, Brody Volz, Liam Shook, Parker Volz, Nova Shook, Benny Volz, Mila Mull and Walker Reed and a best little buddy, Kynlee Skelton and multiple nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, Michael L. Volz; his parents, Arthur and Fern Volz; a brother, Gary Volz and two sisters, Janice Sanchez and Gloria Hall.
Cremation rites have been entrusted to Gent Funeral Home & Cremation Services. There will be a celebration of life for him at a later date TBD. Memorials may be made to a veteran organization of choice.
