Michael Skinner

Michael William “Mike” Skinner, 60, of Glen Carbon, Illinois, passed away at 7:56 a.m. on Sunday, February 18, 2024, at his home.  He was born on February 28, 1963, in Granite City.  He was the owner and operator of Hamilos Brothers Inspected Meats in Madison with over 30 years of dedicated service.  Mike loved the outdoors and his days of boating and camping. 

He enjoyed remote control airplanes and cars and riding motorcycles.  He loved family times together and cherished his children and grandchildren.  He married Bette A. (Pfaff) Skinner on February 14, 1986, in Granite City and she survives.  In addition to his beloved wife of 38 years, he is survived by his mother and stepfather, Georgianne and John Obucina of Granite City; three children, Katy (Cody) Lance of Collinsville, Kory (Hayley Parker) Skinner of Madison and Krissy Skinner of Glen Carbon; two grandchildren, Willow and Drake; three sisters, Susan (Glenn) Jost of Valley Glen, California, Anne (Neil) Trent of Columbia, Missouri and Paula (Darrell) Elmore of Troy; a brother, Gregory (Christa) Obucina of Troy; mother-in-law, Kathy Pfaff of Granite City; sister-in-law, Susan (Randy) Presswood of Granite City; many nieces and nephews; other extended family and friends. 

He was preceded in death by his father, William Gene Skinner; a brother, Jeffrey William Skinner; sister-in-law, Elizabeth “Betty” Skinner and father-in-law, Don Pfaff.  In celebration of his life, visitation will be at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City on Friday, February 23, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. until time of a memorial service at 7:00 p.m. with Reverend Sharon Autenrieth officiating. 

Burial will be at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Edwardsville at a later date.  Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association and may be accepted at the funeral chapel.  www.irwinchapel.com
