Michael R. Sterling, 68, passed away Wednesday, May 24, 2017, at Rosewood Care Center in Alton.
He was born December 7, 1948, in Judsonia, Arkansas, the son of the late George W. and Kathryn (Garner) Sterling, Sr.
Michael married Paula M. Dvorchak on December 18, 1999, in Wood River. She survives.
He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp.
He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, auto body painting, and bowling ball painting. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends.
In addition to his wife, survivors include his children and their spouses, Scott and Dawn Sterling of Bethalto, Casey Zobrist of Belleville, Tonda and Jeff Bringle of Springfield, IL, Christopher and Britney Dvorchak of Wood River; eleven grandchildren; one great grandchild; and three siblings and their spouses, Sally and Arthur Walker of Cottage Hills, Becky and Bob Brandes of East Alton, and Greg and Kim Sterling of Worden.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, George W. Sterling, Jr.
A Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, May 30, 2017, at 10 a.m. at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto with Pastor Charles West officiating.
Burial will follow at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
