Michael Flye

Michael R. Flye, 47, died at 8:45 a.m. Thursday, March 5, 2009 at his home. Born August 2, 1961 in Wood River, he was the son of Alberta (Burnam) Flye of Alton and the late Robert Lee Flye. He worked in the primer department at the Olin Corporation for 5 years and was a member of the Alton Eagles Foe No. 254. Besides his mother surviving is a daughter, Tara James of Godfrey, two grandchildren; Brooke and Jesse James of Godfrey, three sisters; Reverend Patricia Murrell of Alton, Sherry Warren of Alton and Vicky Venardos of Alton, two brothers; Robert Flye of Alton and William Flye and his wife Penny of East Alton, his favorite uncle, Ivor Evans of Christopher, IL, numerous nieces and nephews, his best friend and nephew, Nicholas Murrell of Wood River and his longtime friend, Robert "Buddy" Hayes of Alton. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. until time of memorial service at 5:00 p.m. Sunday at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey. The Reverend Patricia Murrell will officiate. Memorials may be made to a trust fund for his grandchildren in care of Tara James. Friends can meet at 12:00 noon Monday at the Alton Moose Lodge for a memorial luncheon.
