Michael James Osborne passed away the afternoon of July 9th, 2026.
He was born on September 13, 1943 in Alton, IL, the son of James and Marie (Gerdesmeyer) Osborne.
Mike married Arlene F. Yehling on February 26, 1966 in Alton, IL.
He leaves behind his beloved wife, Arlene, of 60 years and one daughter, Elizabeth (Buffy) Osborne, of Rock Hall, MD, one sister, Mary, and brother-in-law, Mike Eckhard, of Godfrey, IL, one nephew, Adam, and one niece, Amy, both of Chicago, IL.
He was preceded in death by both of his parents.
Mike graduated from Marquette High School in 1961 and SIUE in 1966. He served in the U.S. Army from 1966 – 1968 and was a Vietnam veteran.
He retired from Olin Brass in 2001 after 28 years in the Purchasing Department.
Mike enjoyed playing and following sports, traveling and reading. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinal and Indy Car racing fan. He was a past member of the Alton-Godfrey Rotary Club and is a member of SS Peter and Paul Church in Alton.
A memorial mass will be held at SS Peter and Paul Church on August 4th at 10 a.m. Father Jeff Holtman OFS will officiate. Following his wishes, cremation rites will be in accordance. Lunch provided by the Church will follow. Mike’s ashes will be interred at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, 2900 Sheridan Rd, St. Louis, MO with military ceremony at 1:30 p.m. on that same day.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to SS Peter and Paul Church.
