Michael Marsh
Jerseyville |
Michael William Marsh, 74, died at 9:40 p.m., Sunday, March 10, 2024, at Jerseyville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Jerseyville.
He was born on July 3, 1949, and was the son of William Henry and Maxine (Smitley) Marsh.
He served our country honorably with the United States Marine Corp., serving as a Corporal during the Vietnam War.
Following his return home from the service, he was employed with the Olin Corporation for 16 years. He then accepted a position with Boeing, where he was employed for 30 years, and retired as a Pipefitter.
While working at Boeing, he met the former Phyllis Rawe, and the two married on December 8, 1997, at the Jersey County Courthouse. For a brief period while laid off from Boeing, Phyllis worked as an over-the-road truck driver, allowing them the opportunity to see and visit many new places along the journeys.
After his retirement, he began his involvement with the Marine Corp League Detachment 1031, where he was currently serving as Paymaster.
Mike will be fondly remembered by all who knew and loved him for his incredible work ethic and for his subtle but effective skill of being able to “stir the pot” when needed.
Surviving are his wife of 26 years, Phyllis Marsh of Jerseyville; a son and daughter-in-law, William Michael and Brittany Marsh of Wisconsin; as well as three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, John Russell Marsh.
Per his wishes, no services will be held.
