Michael Lindsey

Michael Duane Lindsey, 63, passed away Wednesday, March 11, 2026 at Jersey Community Hospital following a brief battle with lung cancer.

Mike, lovingly referred to by his friends as “Punkinhead”, made his debut into the world on Apr. 13, 1962 in Alton. He was the son of the late Claude and Betty Lindsey.

Mike attended his first few years of school in the Rosewood Heights School District before the family relocated to the Delhi area. He attended Delhi Elementary School, Illini Middle School, and Jersey Community High School with the Class of 1982. He also received training at J.B. Johnson Vocational Center in Alton, where he learned auto body repair.

Following his educational endeavors, he began his career as a truck driver. He operated semis as an over the road driver, a position which took him to nearly every state in the union as well as crossing over into Canada. He was also a local delivery driver. His expertise behind the wheel afforded him employment with Hansen Trucking, Shell Oil Refinery, Matt Cooper Trucking, and Lindsey Trucking, to name a few.

Mike enjoyed spending time with his friends, of which there were many. Some of his favorite times were spent fishing, cruising the river on his pontoon boat, going to concerts and attending NHRA events, even when he had to make the trek in a wheelchair.

Mike was an avid motorcycle enthusiast and enjoyed taking in the sights on the back of his Harley. His adventures took him to several states, including Alaska. Even when he had to utilize an alternate mode of transportation to reach his destination, it was not uncommon for him to rent a motorcycle while there—as life is always better on the back of a Harley.

He was preceded in death by his loving parents, who he adored and was very protective of.

Mike is survived by his half-sister, Gail Potter of Elkville and his faithful companion, Pepper.

He will be forever remembered and sadly missed by his friends, who were in essence his family.

Professional services were entrusted to Paynic Home for Funerals, and an online guestbook is available at www.paynicfh.com.

Those interested in making a memorial donation to assist with his final expenses should do so by making checks payable to Crystal Stierley, and they will be accepted at the funeral home.
