Michael LeVar

Michael Rawls “Mike” LeVar, 84, of Mt. Olive, Illinois passed away at 8:55 a.m. on Saturday, September 23, 2023, at Cedarhurst of Troy.  He was born September 8, 1939, in Miami, Florida, a son of the late Homer, and Evelyn (Farmer) LeVar.  Mike was a proud recipient of two separate Master’s Degrees through his lifetime from the University of Florida and also American Graduate School. He had worked in business administration, the United States Forest Service in Utah and his later years with Home Depot in Fairview with ten years of service in the paint department.  He loved the outdoors, nature, the mountains and water and enjoyed his days of canoeing, snow skiing and his many travels in life. The United States Army veteran proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. He is survived by his children and their spouses, Michelle LeVar of Evergreen, Colorado, Dawn and Mark Lymberopoulos of Maryville, Illinois, Bob and Kelly Keyser of Boca Raton, Florida, John Keyser of Ponce Inlet, Florida and Dave Keyser of Holiday Shores; his grandchildren, Johnny and wife, Lenée Keyser, Jimmy Lymberopoulos, Bobby Keyser, Emily Lymberopoulos and fiancé, Parker Werline, Joey and wife, Isabella Keyser, William Lymberopoulos, Matthew Keyser, Brian Lymberopoulos, David Keyser and fiancé, Tiffany Lee, and Abby Keyser; his great grandchild, Brees Keyser, former wife and friend, Donna LeVar of Holiday Shores; other extended family and friends.

In celebration of his life, visitation will be at Irwin Chapel, 591 Glen Crossing Road in Glen Carbon, Illinois on Thursday, October 5, 2023, from 10:30 a.m. until time of funeral service at 12:30 p.m. with Reverend Daren Carstens officiating.  Burial with full military honors will follow at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis.
