Michael Leroy DeWerff, 70, passed away at 12:02 p.m. Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at Eunice C. Smith Home in Alton.
Born Apr. 25, 1946 in Alton, he was a son of Laurence P. and Roma Lee (Brummell) DeWerff.
He married Mildred “Millie” (McClellan) DeWerff in 1983 in Edwardsville. She passed away Sept. 26, 2012.
He worked in the furnace department of Olin Brass and spent many years league bowling with his wife.
Survivors include his children, 2 daughters, Linda (David) Lawshe of Bethalto, IL and Paula K. Barton of Alton, 2 sons, Theodore B. (Faith) Kelley of Florissant, Mo. and Jeffery L. Young of Wood River; 12 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; a sister, Kathy (Jeff) Henderson of South Roxana; and 2 brothers, Larry (Marie) DeWerff of Moro and Jim Bob (Connie) DeWerff of Wood River.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and son Gerald Kelley, Jr.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, March 8 at Paynic Home for Funerals, where services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 9.
Burial will follow at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis with military honors.
