Michael Bast

Michael L. "Mike" Bast, age 61 of Pocahontas, IL, died Tuesday, March 09, 2021, at his home, in Pocahontas, IL.

He was born on Monday, October 12, 1959, in Highland, IL, the son of Delmar and Maxine (nee Manley) Bast. Charpentier.

On Saturday, November 22, 1980, he married Sue A. "Susie" Bast, nee Kampwerth, at St. Paul Catholic Church, Highland, IL, who survives.

He was a member of Saint Paul Catholic Church, Highland, IL; Local Lodge #27; and International Brotherhood of Boilermakers, St. Louis, MO.

Mike was born in Highland and grew up west of Marine. He graduated from Triad High School in 1977. He attended Ranken Tech School for 2 years, he graduated and worked at St. Louis Metalizing as a Machinist, until 2015. He also farmed, raising grain and livestock. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, bowling, camping, and taking Sunday drives.

Survivors include: Wife - Sue A. "Susie" Bast (nee Kampwerth), Pocahontas, IL; Daughter - Jamie L. (Matthew) Todt, Highland, IL; Daughter - Courtney A. (Carl) Chambers, Troy, IL; Grandchild - Wyatt M. Todt, Highland, IL; Grandchild - Dallan J. Todt, Highland, IL; Sister - Michelle L. Waeckerle, Highland, IL; Brother - Keith G. (Nancy) Bast, Highland, IL; Brother - Brian C. (Dawn) Bast, Highland, IL.

He was preceded in death by: Father - Delmar G. "Mike" Bast - Died 12/8/2008; Mother - Maxine M. Charpentier (nee Manley) - Died 10/5/2008.

Arrangements are being handled by Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL.

Public Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Thursday, March 11, 2021, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL.

Private Funeral Service will be Friday, March 12, 2021, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL, with Rev. Fr. Pat G. Jakel, Pastor, St. Paul Catholic Church, officiating.

Interment will be at Saint Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Highland, IL.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or donor's choice.
