Michael L. Kokos, 65, passed away at 2:40 am on Thursday, August 2, 2012 at Alton Memorial Hospital.
He was born on February 14, 1947 to Kenneth Kokos and Velma (Babb Beinaman.
Michael was a journeyman grinder at Olin Corporation in the Winchester Division for 44 years, retiring in 2010. He was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Alton. He was an amateur archeologist and loved to hunt for arrowheads and was a true American picker. He also enjoyed going to the movies and spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his children and their spouses, Sherryl Jones of Bethalto, Daniel and Denise Kokos of Olive Branch, MS, Stephanie Kokos and her fiancé, Rob Copley of North Grovenordale, CT, and Michael Lee Kokos II of TX and eight grandchildren, Cody Jones, Kaci Jones, Meghan Haney, Hailee Kokos, Kailee Copley, Madelynn Copley, Liyah Michele Kokos, and Liam Lee Kokos.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Darryl Kokos.
Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday, August 6, 2012 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto. Funeral services will be at 10 am Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at the funeral home with Father David Boase officiating.
Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
Memorials may be given to Shriners Children’s Hospital.
