Michael Manley

Michael J. Manley, 53, passed away on Sunday, March 4, 2018, at his home in Cottage Hills.

He was born on May 9, 1964, in Alton, the son of Paul R. and Judith M. (Metcalf) Manley.

Michael was a wonderful Christian man who found his calling in serving others.  Following his passion for Jesus, he was the Director of the Hospitality Department at the Community Hope Center.  He managed the Soup for the Soul Café which served free meals to many of the local people near Cottage Hills.  His passion for Christ was contagious and he proudly encouraged everyone to “Let go and Let God”.  His welcoming demeanor created an atmosphere of fun and friendliness which made the Community Hope Center a wonderful place to spend time.

Michael is survived by his sister and her husband, Kath and Don Zolfo of New Lenox, IL; his niece, Rachel and her husband Michael Twarog of Downers Grove, IL; his nephews, Daniel and Matthew Zolfo; step-brother Gary Kiby and his companion, Becky Fessler of Jerseyville, roger and pam Kirby of Jerseyville, and Tina and Dan Tonsor of Jerseyville.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Paul and Judy Manley and his stepmother, Shirley L. Kirby Manley.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 pm on Thursday, March 8, 2018 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 am on Friday, March 9, 2018 at Cornerstone Church in Bethalto, IL, where Reverend Erik Scottberg will officiate.

Burial will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Alton, IL.

A memorial mass will be held for Paul and Michael Manley on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at 10 am in New Lenox, IL for friends and family from northern Illinois.
