Michael Edward Elliott, 70, went to be with the Lord peacefully with his family by his side at 12:43 a.m. Sunday, September 13, 2015, at Southern Illinois Hospice.
Born August 24, 1945, in Alton, he was the son of Keith "Jim" and Bernice (Aulabaugh) Elliott.
He retired in December 18, 2009 after 38 years of service as a Millwright at the Olin Corporation. He was a member of St. Matthews Catholic Church in Alton, member of the East Alton-Wood River American Legion and member of the Alton-Wood River Sportsman's Club.
He was an avid hunter and enjoyed spending time with his hunting family and friends. He was also very proud of the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren.
On July 23, 1966, he married the former Sarah "Sally" Kimbro in Alton. They celebrated 49 years of marriage on July 23, 2015.
Surviving is a daughter, Cathy Elliott, two sons, Mark Elliott (Molly) and Jim Elliott; grandchildren, Stephen Elliott and Meghan Elliott, and many dear sister-in laws and brother-in laws, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his parents, grandson, Andrew Elliott and his brother, Jerry Elliott.
There will be a private service and Gent Funeral Home and burial following at Upper Alton Cemetery Tuesday, September 15, 2015, at Gent Funeral Home in Alton with Father Steve Pohlman officiating.
Memorials may be made to St. Ambrose School and Children's Hospital. .
