Michael “Pat” Butkovich, 53, passed away at 8:23 a.m. on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, at his home, with his wife and daughter by his side.
He was born on December 17, 1971, in Wood River, IL, to Michael “Mickey” Butkovich and Carol (Dorman) Krueger.
Pat married Heather M. Zumwalt on August 19, 2000, in Jamaica. She survives.
He attended East Alton-Wood River High School and spent 30 years working as a Processor at Dial, before continuing his career as a Process Control Operator at Mallinckrodt Pharmaceuticals. Pat was a member of Zion Lutheran Church.
Pat loved traveling with his family-especially cruising-and he had a gift for joking and making others laugh. He enjoyed watching any sport, and especially loved cheering on St. Louis City SC and the Oklahoma Sooners. He also loved supporting his daughter, nieces, nephews, and cousins in their own activities and sporting events.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Hannah Marie Butkovich of Bethalto, IL; his mother, Carol Krueger of Godfrey, IL; sisters Tammy (Gary) Cooper of Georgia and Ashley Krueger of Wood River, IL; brother Jason (Christie) Butkovich of St. Charles, MO; and several beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Michael “Mickey” Butkovich.
Visitation will be on Sunday, November 30, 2025, 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto, IL and will continue Monday, December 1, 2025, 10:00 am - 11:00 am at Zion Lutheran Church, in Bethalto, IL.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 1, 2025, 11:00 am at the Zion Lutheran Church, in Bethalto, IL, with Pastor Kale Hanson, officiating.
Memorials are suggested to Zion Lutheran Church or in care of the Butkovich family.
