Merle McRevey

Merle Samuel McRevey, 86, passed away on Saturday, December 22, 2018, at The Fountains at Godfrey, under the care of Residential Hospice.

He was born on September 29, 1932, in Wood River, IL, the son of Charles and Margaret (Suess) McRevey.  Both preceded him in death.  He married Nina Kawachi, whom preceded him in death in February of 1998.  He later married Janet R. Steinberg on September 16, 2000 at Holiday Shores Baptist Church, she survives.

Merle proudly served in the United States Navy during the Korean conflict.  He was a Photographic Analysis for Defense Mapping.  He was a member of the National Railway Historical Society. Merle was a member of the Bethalto United Methodist Church and the Alton VFW Post 1308.  He enjoyed photography and archiving old photographs.  He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and children.

He is survived by his children, Robyn (Kory) Kaufman of Rocheport, MO and Don (Mary) Steinberg of Bethalto; four grandchildren, Erin Kaufman and Lauren Kaufman of Denver, CO, Andrew (Natalie) Steinberg of Bethalto and Marissa (Levi) Langsford of Maryville; and one great grandson, Jackson Steinberg.

Visitation will be from 11:30 am until time of service at 1 pm, on Friday, December 28, 2018, at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto.  Pastor Bill Pyatt will officiate.  Burial will take place at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens. Military rites will be provided by Alton VFW Post 1308.

Memorials can be made to Shriner’s Children’s Hospital, St. Louis Children’s Hospital and/or Residential Hospice
