Meredith F. "Chub" Wadsworth, 81, passed away at 6:50 a.m. Monday, February 11, 2019 at Eunice C. Smith Home in Alton.
Born March 29, 1937 in Edwardsville, he was the son of Francis and Virginia (Moore) Wadsworth.
The 1955 graduate of Wood River Community High School served active duty in the U.S. Navy from 1955-1959, and then inactive duty from 1959-1963. He retired after 36 years from Union Electric Co. in 1996 as a gas serviceman.
He married Jessie M. Grant on Oct. 7, 1960 at the Roxana Church of the Nazarene. She survives. Also surviving are two sons, William Wadsworth of Honolulu, HI and James (Kathy) Wadsworth of St. Louis, MO; two grandsons, Christopher Wadsworth of El Paso, TX and Tyler Wadsworth of Honolulu; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Rita M. Wadsworth Hill.
Visitation will be Saturday, Feb. 16 at Paynic Home for Funerals from 10 a.m. until services begin at 11 a.m. Pastor Andrew Paton will officiate. Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens.
Chub was a member of the Roxana Church of the Nazarene, and memorials are suggested to the church.
