Melva G. Clouatre, 86, passed away 8:48 p.m. Monday, February 26, 2018 at OSF St. Mary's Medical Center in Galesburg.
Born in Edwardsville on August 8, 1931, she was the daughter of Elmer and Elsie (Buffe) Franke.
Melva enjoyed many careers during her lifetime including employment at the Olin Corporation, J.C. Penny, a dental office and Crown Optical. She was a longtime volunteer for St. Anthony Hospital Auxiliary and a faithful member of the Roxana Church of the Nazarene.
On June 26, 1954 in Roxana, she married Sidney J. Clouatre. He died April 26, 1999.
Surviving are a son, Dr. Douglas Clouatre; two daughters, Joan Leedham, Denise (Kevin) Klokkenga; four grandchildren, Jason (Katy) Klokkenga, Jeremy (Teresa) Klokkenga, Joshua (Courtney) Klokkenga, Sarah Leedham; seven great grandchildren, Jenna, Kamryn and Nico Klokkenga, Elijah, Ian and Andrew Klokkenga, Leo Klokkenga; and a sister, Delores Dyer.
Her parents; husband; and a sister, Darlene Franke preceded in death.
Visitation will be from 12 p.m. until time of service at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, March 3 at Marks Mortuary in Wood River. Rev. Jay Shoff will officiate.
Burial will follow in Woodland Hill Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the OSF St. Anthony Hospital Auxiliary in Alton.
