Melissa Renee (Loy) Kalbfell, 42, of Shipman passed away at 7:45 pm ON Wed May 8, 2013 at Missouri Baptist Hospital in St Louis with her family by her side.
Born June 11, 1970 in Carlinville, IL, the daughter of Roger & Mary (Gibson) Loy of Medora. She was a 1988 graduate of Southwestern High School where she received the John Phillip Sousa award for being an outstanding band member. She attended the Hickey Business College. She had worked at various optical office in the Alton area.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by sons: Steven Charles Kalbfell of Jerseyville and Travis Michael Kalbfell of Brighton, a grandson, Gatlin James Kalbfell of Affton, MO (Grandma LaLa’s pride and joy), her sister and brother in law, Kimberly and Tony Reed, her favorite niece, Molly, her little brother, Eric Loy, and her boyfriend Chris Goodrich. Also several Aunts, Uncles and cousins.
Melissa loved music, animals, children, chocolate and spending time with friends and family. Always a generous sole, her love for others continues through her being an organ donor.
Visitation will be 4-8 pm Sun May 12, 2013 at Targhetta & Wooldridge F H in Medora where a prayer service will be held at 4 pm by Fr. Bill Kesler.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 am on Monday May 13, 2013 at the St John’s Catholic Church in Medora with Fr Kesler officiating.
Cremation rites will follow services
Memorials may be made to an educational fund for Gatlin, or masses.
