Melba G. Selkirk, age 95, passed away at 9:55 a.m. on Friday, May 21, 2010 at Rosewood Care Center in Alton, Il..
She was born on August 7, 1914 in Farmersville, Il. to Elmer and Verna (Carroll) Redenbo.
Melba married Marshall Selkirk in 1941 in St. Charles, MO. he preceded her in death in April of 1984.
Melba was a hairdresser for 15 years, she owned and operated her own Beauty Shop at her home. She was a member of the Main St. United Methodist Church in Alton, Il. and a devoted homemaker to her family. She enjoyed making quiltes, and especially enjoyed making them for her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by a Daughter and her spouse; Sharon and Laverne Bechtold of Alton, Il. a son and his spouse: Ronald and Marilyn Selkirk of St. Josephs, MO. six grandchildren, nine great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a son Marshall Selkirk, two granddaughters; Dana Martinez, and Kerry Selkirk, and one brother; Wayne Redenbo.
Visitations will be from 10 to 11am on Monday, May 24, 2010, at the Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton, Il. till the time of service at 11 am. With the Rev Jami Hahs officiating.
Burial will follow at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey, Illinois
