Melanie Hughart

Melanie Hughart, 39, passed away at 5:15 am, Tuesday, December 13, 2016, at her home in Holiday Shores.She was born September 6, 1977, raised in Elsah, Illinois, the daughter of Mitch and Susan (Brown) Mayfield.Melanie married Shawn Hughart on December 31, 1996, in Jerseyville, Illinois. Together, they have a beautiful daughter, Caitlin. Both Shawn and Caitlin survive.Melanie worked, most recently, as a nurse for Alton Memorial Hospital for 2 years. She had previously worked for St. Clair’s Hospital as a nurse as well. In her spare time, Melanie loved to read, go to concerts, especially Dave Matthews Band concerts. She liked going to new restaurants and traveling. Melanie had a large facebook family. She and many of her Facebook friends enjoyed the game “Mafia Wars”. Her favorite thing, above all else, was spending time with her family, friends, two dogs, Coconut and Cora, and cat, Daisy.In addition to her husband and daughter, survivors include her parents, of Alton; two brothers, Matt Mayfield and his wife Amanda of Alton, Michael Mayfield of St. Charles, MO; Father in Law, Jim Hughart and his wife Mary Kay; nieces and nephews, Alexa, Dillon, Xander, Evan, Sam, and Steven; brother in law, Jeff Hughart; sister in law, Tamara Hughart; and many other friends and family.She was preceded in death by her mother in law, Pam Hughart.Visitation will be from 10 am until time of service at 1 pm on Saturday, December 17, 2016, at Elias, Kallal, and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto.Cremation rites have been accorded.Memorials may be given to her daughter’s college education fund or Hope Rescue in Alton.Online condolences and guest book may be found at www.eliaskallalandschaaf.com
