Maurice E. Stauffer, 94, passed away at 12:20 am, Sunday, April 8, 2012 at Alton Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Woburn, IL on August 26, 1917 the son of the late Henry Arthur and Goldie (Elam) Stauffer.
On December 24, 1938 Maurice married Lois Evans. She survives.
Maurice was a machinist at Owens Illinois Machine Shop in Godfrey, Il for over 43 years. He was a member of the Main Street United Methodist Church in Alton for over 68 years, the Franklin Masonic Lodge for over 59 years, and also a member of the International Association of Machinist Local 660. His greatest love was spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
He is survived by two daughters; Shirley and her spouse Tom Hentrich of Godfrey, IL. and Carole Cross of Alton, four grandchildren; Lisa Berghoff, Bart Hentrich, Craig Hentrich and Chad Cross, nine great grandchildren; Kristen and Eric Berghoff, Lynsey and Luke Hentrich and Abbey, Sam and Nate Hentrich, Alex and Dylan Cross.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son-in-law Charles Cross.
In celebration of his life, visitation will be Wednesday, April 11 from 12 noon till time of service at 1:30 pm at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton, IL. Rev Jame Hahs will officiate. Masonic rites will be presented at 1pm, by the Masonic Lodge 25 AF & AM.
Burial will follow at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey, Il.
