Matthew Fennell

Matthew J. Fennell, 21, passed away on Sunday, August 27, 2017, at his home in Holiday Shores.He was born May 14, 1996, in Blue Island, Illinois, the son of Richard and Letha (Ewert) Fennell.Matt worked for Monsanto as an analytical chemist for 1 ½ years. He was a member of the National Honor Society and enjoyed debating, science and history.Matt touched so many lives with his incredibly smart and warm personality. Everyone who met him recognized this and wanted to support him in his success. Survivors include his parents of Holiday Shores; one sister, April Lynn Fennell; one brother, Eric Thomson; maternal grandparents, David and Karen Ewert; three uncles, Mark Evert, Bret RempelEwert, James O. Fennell; three aunts Ann M. Pennington, Angela RempelEwert, and April Lea Fennell; and several nephews and nieces.He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, James F. and Margery R. Fennell, and two uncles, Robert E. Fennell and David A. Fennell.Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, August 30, 2017, at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto, 727 E.
