JERSEYVILLE -   Mason Patrick Dougherty, 27, died at 9:30 p.m., Friday, April 7, 2017, as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident on Route 111 near Modesto, in Macoupin County.Mason was born in Jerseyville on April 6, 1990, and was the third of five children born to Timothy and Carol (Hunter) Doughterty.   Mason was blessed to have grown up with not only his brother and sisters, but a large contingent of aunts, uncles and cousins on both sides of his family.   He loved each and every one of them.He attended Jersey Community High School,  and studied welding technology at Lewis & Clark Community College in Godfrey.  He was currently, and has been for the past 4 years, the lead technician, sales and marketing manager at Professional Inground Pool Services in Waverly, Il.    He also utilized his love for cooking,by working at the Brass Door in Carrollton.If it had anything to do with the outdoors, Mason loved it.  His love for fishing began early on, accompanying his Dad on numerous outings, with their favorite spot located at a pond just north of Eldred.   He recently, began taking his children there as well.   He also enjoyed 4-wheeling, riding dirt bikes, working outside tending to his garden and spending time with those he cherished.He is survived by his parents, Tim and Carol Dougherty of Kane; his two children, Myles and Ella Rose; his companion, Sara Garrsion, and her two sons, whom Mason adored as his own, Phillip and Conner; a brother & sister in law, Connor and Chelsey Dougherty of Nashville;  three sisters & a brother in law, Amber and Manuel Mezo of Godfrey, Heather Dougherty of Silverthorne, Co., and Katelyn Dougherty of Jerseyville; his nephew and nieces, Adrian, Vanessa, and Anabel; his two grandmothers, Frances Dougherty of Jerseyville and Doris Thompson of Fieldon; along with many aunts, uncles and cousins.Mason was preceded in death by his beautiful 16 month old daughter, Mya Kay Dougherty on Feb. 28, 2010; his grandfathers, Patrick Dougherty, Joseph Hunter; a step grandfather, Raymond Thompson; two uncles, Joseph Hunter and John Hamel; an aunt, LeDonna Johnson; and two cousins, Chloe Murphy on Sept. 4, 2010, and Zeke Alexander on Dec. 11, 2014.Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., Thursday at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville, where funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m., Friday.Mason will be laid to rest near his daughter, Mya at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville.In honor of Mason, memorial donations to the family in care of the funeral home, would be greatly appreciated.
