MaryAnn “Mopsie” Horn, age 85, of Alton, passed away peacefully on Saturday,February 24, 2018, 7:45 pm at Eunice Smith Home in Alton. She was born June 28, 1932 in Jerseyville, the daughter of the late Michael M. and Kathleen (nee: Shea) Accario. She married James F. Horn on October 24 , 1953. He preceded her in death on June 13, 1994. A 1950 graduate of Marquette Catholic High School, she later graduated from St. Joseph School of Nursing, and worked many years as a Registered Nurse and served as a mentor to many younger nurses at various facilities including St. Anthony’s Health Center and served as the office nurse for Dr. Thomas Morrissey, M.D. She retired at the age of 80 from Rosewood Care Center. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton, was an avid reader and enjoyed feeding and watching the birds. Survivors include her daughter; Ann M. Horn Parker, her sons; Jim (Cheri) Horn of Alton, Tim (Vicki) Horn of Godfrey, Matt (Laurie) Horn of Godfrey, Dennis (Jenny) Horn of Rogers, Arkansas, Chris (Dana) Horn of Godfrey,a daughter-in-law; Cindy Horn of Cahokia, a brother-in-law; Allen Northway of Godfrey, a sister-in-law; Bonnie Horn of Overland Park, KS,her grandchildren; Jennifer (Tracy), Jimmy, Jana (Rick), Jeff, Kinzye,Bobby (Mike), Chris, Stephanie (Matt), Sam (Jessica), Marykate, Georgia,Jake, John, Adam, and Zach.many great-grandchildren, other extended family and many many dear friends. She was also preceded in death by a son; Tom Horn and by her siblings; Michael M. Accario and Patricia Northway.Visitation will be at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton on Saturday, March 3, 2018, from 9:30 a.m. until time of a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. with Father Jeremy Paulin, O.M.V. as celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Alton.
