Mary Leann Elizabeth (Talega) Simpson, 38, passed away at 7:45 p.m. on Thursday, August 6, 2026, at her home in Jerseyville, following a hard-fought battle with cancer.
Born on May 31, 1988, in Jerseyville, Mary was the daughter of Michael and Rose (Gilbert) Telega. During her younger years, she lived throughout Jersey County, as well as in Godfrey and Greenfield. As an adult, life carried her to various parts of the country, allowing her to experience new places and meet new people, but no matter where life led her, Jerseyville was always home.
Mary enjoyed traveling and looked forward to every opportunity to explore somewhere new. Among the many destinations she visited, Las Vegas and Branson held a special place in her heart, providing memories she treasured and adventures she loved to share with others.
Above all else, Mary was a mother. Her greatest love was reserved for her children, who remained at the center of her life and will forever carry her love with them.
She is survived by her three children, Jamie, Michael and Ryder; her father, Michael Telega of Waterloo; and her husband, Nicholas Simpson of Godfrey.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Rose.
Memorial Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until time of Memorial Service at 11 a.m. at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to benefit her children, in care of Michael Telega.
